This painting portrays three young banana trees illuminated by a ray of light penetrating the thick tropical forest canopy. The cluster of banana fronds forms a bright bouquet of color against the darker background. One of Alex’s most widely exhibited works, Ohana is painted in the same genre as Bananas and in a more impressionistic vein than many of his other paintings.
